Mishi Mwakaole

Mishi Salim Mwakaole was appointed the County Executive Committee Member-Education, County Government of Kwale in December 2022. She had served as a Chief Officer in the same department for 5 ½ years (2014-2020). Prior to joining the County Government of Kwale, she had 19 years of experience in the education sector having worked with the Teachers Service Commission since 1995.
She served the Commission in various capacities including being an Assistant Deputy Director-Teacher Management (2011-2014), Senior principal Staffing Officer (2009-2011), Chief Staffing Officer (2008-2009), and a Principal (2003-2008)
She holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Nairobi (1995)
Juma Nzao
Chief Officer - Education
Juma is a Bachelor of Education (Arts) graduate in Accounting and Economics from the University of Nairobi (2002); has a Master’s Degree in governance and leadership from JKUAT (2018) and also holds an Advanced Diploma in Project Planning and Management from ICM (UK).
Juma has over 10 years ‘experience in development administration having served in different capacities in international non-governmental organizations. He served as a Program Assistant at ActionAid in Kwale from May 2006 to February 2008; Programme Facilitator at Plan International from 2008 to 2011; Programme Coordinator for Justand Democratic Governance at Plan International in 2012;
and also worked as Programme Manager at ActionAid for Taita Taveta County from 2013 to 2015.
He is experienced in public management having served in Kwale County Government as a Project Officer for the EU-funded Youth and Governance project from 2015 to 2018 and later as a Chief Officer (first in Public Service and Administration, and later in the department of Education) from June, 2019 to date.
His areas of interest among others are: public management, just and democratic governance, legislative oversight, women’s rights, education and participatory methodologies in development.
